01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Set along Shin-Ohashi-dori between Ojima and Higashi-Ojima stations, LAZY is an izakaya where diners can settle in over hearty meat and seafood dishes while nursing a pour of something good. Raw seafood commands attention on the menu right away, led by a 10-variety platter featuring cuts such as fatty tuna, banded blue sprat, live octopus, and yellowtail amberjack. Meat dishes keep pace just as comfortably, from the signature venison steak and house-made roast pork to wagyu liver, making deciding between surf and turf part of the pleasure.

The drink selection is equally wide-ranging. The whisky shelf pulls together notable Japanese bottlings—including Ichiro's Malt Leaf series, limited Mars Shinshu Distillery releases, and Gaiaflow's Prologue—alongside Scotch standouts like Ardnamurchan and Ardbeg. Fresh-squeezed Hyuganatsu citrus sours and cold draft beers are on hand as well, so starting with something crisp before moving on to drams of whisky feels entirely natural.

Small plates are plentiful, with choices like salt-simmered whelk, umaki (eel wrapped in rolled omelet), and the signature Lazy Nira-Tama (chive and egg), all well suited for ordering a dish or two at a time to pair with your glass. When it is time to wrap up, bowls such as grated spicy daikon soba or zaru ramen provide a clean finish. The restaurant stays open until 23:00 from Tuesday to Thursday, and until 3:00 the following morning on Friday and Saturday, making it a dependable stop when you want an unhurried night of food and drinks in an easygoing setting.
